About The Engine Yard

At the heart of the Engine Yard is a collection of charming 19th century buildings. Originally used by specialist tradesmen, these workshops produced furniture, windows and doors during the construction of the present Belvoir Castle in the early 1800s. Now these beautiful buildings have been lovingly restored to create a unique rural retail village.

Sustainability and provenance were key considerations during their sensitive refurbishment. Every brick and beam has been retained and reused. Nothing has gone to waste. The spirit of industry and teamwork of its Victorian heritage continue to thrive as today’s retailers, connoisseurs and therapists take up residence in these wonderful spaces.

The Best of Country Living

Enjoy exploring the three acre landscaped site, carefully repurposed to celebrate local food, drink and artisan shopping with an opportunity to relax and unwind in stunning surroundings.

What’s more, the Engine Yard will host a programme of inspiring events throughout the year. These will include foodie talks and cookery demonstrations in the first-floor space above the café. You can look forward to themed pop up dinners, open-air barbecues in summer, farmers’ markets, craft fairs and dog-friendly weekends organised by leading dog behaviourists.

Spend Time Somewhere Special

Combined with a visit to the ancestral home of the Duke & Duchess of Rutland, a (dog) walk around the grounds or one of the many events that take place at Belvoir Castle throughout the year, the Engine Yard is another great reason to spend some time enjoying the beautiful Belvoir Estate.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
